Print barcodes and act on low-stock alerts

Use searchable SKU labels, keyboard-wedge scanning and warehouse reorder points with a clear alert history.

Choose an appropriate barcode#

Add a unique barcode to the item and select a label format. Code 128 supports the accepted printable text identifiers; EAN-13 requires exactly thirteen digits with a valid check digit. Rendering a barcode does not allocate a GS1 company prefix or prove global GTIN ownership.

Code 128Internal stock and warehouse labels.Encodes the supported item identifier locally. Keep identifiers consistent across the scanners you use.
EAN-13An existing valid retail identifier.Requires a valid thirteen-digit EAN check digit. Use identifiers your business is entitled to use.

Print and test the label#

Open the item label control, check the human-readable SKU and barcode, and use the print view. Barcodes render locally in the browser; item identifiers are not sent to a public barcode service.

Print at a readable scale with clear margins. Test a real printed label on the intended printer and scanner before a large run. Screen appearance alone does not prove scan quality.

Find stock by scanning#

Use a USB or Bluetooth keyboard-wedge scanner in the catalogue search field. The scanner types the barcode as keyboard input; submit or allow the search to find the item, then confirm the item and warehouse before changing stock.

Camera scanning, industrial printer language templates and automatic stock changes on every scan are not part of this release. A barcode identifies an item; it does not authenticate a user or authorize an adjustment.

Set reorder points per location#

Set a default whole-unit reorder point on the item. A manager can override it for a warehouse. Zero is a valid threshold; an alert opens when available stock is at or below the chosen point.

Available stock accounts for online reservations. A busy store can therefore need replenishment while some goods are still physically present. Reorder points are a signal, rather than a forecast or automatic purchase order.

Acknowledge and resolve the right problem#

The Alerts screen shows the affected item, warehouse, available units and threshold. Repeated low-stock movements update the existing open alert rather than creating another alert for every unit sold.

Acknowledging records that a person has seen the alert; it does not replenish stock or pretend the shortage is solved. An alert resolves when stock rises above the current threshold, or the relevant item/location is legitimately archived. Later shortages can open a new alert.

Alerts are in-app in this release. Email, SMS, push notifications, supplier purchasing and automated replenishment are not enabled by a reorder point.

Keep the active workspace, actual business requirements and current setup summary in view. A guide explains a choice; it does not make that choice for you.
