Understand shared stock, reservations, delivery choices, register shifts and returns.
Tracked, untracked or explicitly shared stock?#
Choose a source that reflects the real goods. Two similarly named products do not automatically share a balance.
| Choice | When it fits | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Tracked stock | Count physical units and prevent overselling. | Opening quantities and later adjustments need accurate counts; reservations remain protected. |
| Untracked stock | A supported service or item without a physical stock counter. | Does not provide warehouse quantities or automatic replenishment. |
| Explicitly linked stock | Use the same supported stock source across selling workflows. | Requires the relevant installed apps and matching business settings. Existing reservations are preserved. |
Delivery or pickup?#
A delivery rule determines eligible destinations and the configured fee. Pickup identifies the supported collection option. Neither choice purchases a carrier label or proves delivery.
Confirm policies, destination, any applicable tax and the final delivery total before accepting an order.
Registers and shifts#
A register identifies a trading station; a shift identifies an operator’s trading session and opening cash. Register assignment does not add a staff seat.
Count real opening and closing cash, record authorised drawer movements with reasons and review differences. For warehouse transfers, explicitly install and configure Inventory. A configured outlet does not imply fiscal-device certification.
Keep the active workspace, actual business requirements and current setup summary in view. A guide explains a choice; it does not make that choice for you.
